In Petit Paris, Brussels, we realised a second project for Café Costume. The room adjacent to the street has been finished off using a wide range of different materials originating from the turn of twentieth century. Different rooms were added as a continuation on this space. As the conceptual boundaries between shop, office or living space are deliberately kept vague, the project consciously incites a disorienting experience with the costumers. Furthermore, the central fireplace functions as a beacon of homeliness in the midst of the otherwise brazen approach of the store. This contrast being a main tenant of Café Costume’s philosophy.
